STUDY 1: Calling for Formerly Incarcerated Individuals
SUMMER 2026
Participate in a research study at Georgia Tech about your opinions on technology used in prisons and jails. We are a small research team at Georgia Tech working on a project to design technology that can improve living conditions in incarceration facilities. We are hoping to chat with formerly incarcerated individuals to get a better sense of their experiences and attitudes towards technology. In order to participate, you must be 18 years old or older and located in the United States at the time of the interview. You must have been incarcerated in a U.S. facility (preferably in the past 5 years) to participate.
The conversations will last 30 to 60 minutes and individuals will be monetarily compensated for their time. In order to provide compensation, we may need to verify your information.
Get in touch with us to start the process. EMAIL: Please send us an email clio@gatech.edu or PHONE CALL or TEXT: Send a text message or phone call to 202-630-0085 to register.
Choose an in-person conversation (in metro Atlanta) or virtual option. All conversations are anonymous and no names are needed.

STUDY 2: Factxis: A Wraparound Tool for Spreadsheet Users
SUMMER 2026
Are you a spreadsheet user? Do you have group meetings where you discuss data? Have you encountered data (such as demographic data) and want to use it more easily? We are looking for participants to help us study Factxis, a new tool for spreadsheet users. A data table (like the one below) can be uploaded to the system and can be shared with others.
We want to sit with you as you use this tool alone or in a group setting! You can use it to: explore data on how your organization is performing; let people ‘poke around’ at facts about neighborhoods; make decisions about what products to prioritize. Factxis is free and open source, and our visits are academic and no-cost. We’ll come visit your meeting!
If you were planning to make a powerpoint presentation with maps, pie charts, bar graphs, and lots of bullet points and tables, this tool can be used in a similar way to help communicate facts.
Contact us to set up a time in summer 2026. Our team will help you prepare your data, will visit your group meeting as a data helper, and/or interview you about your experience. Please contact clio@gatech.edu to set up a time.
